Samsung sells 40 million Galaxy S4 units in just six months
Samsung announced Thursday that it has sold more than 40 million Galaxy S4 handsets globally. The stat is extremely impressive in a mobile landscape seemingly dominated by Apple smartphones.
The 40 million sold is great news for Samsung and surprising considering how much reviewers criticized the device at launch. The Galaxy S4 is actually Samsung's fastest selling Android smartphone to date.
As a brief refresher, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is Samsung's 2013 flagship Android smartphone. The device is powered by a multi-core Qualcomm processor and 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy S4 is Samsung's iPhone competitor and is powered by Android Jelly Bean, it also features Google Now. Overall, it's an extremely smooth device and a pleasure to use.
The Galaxy S4 is and was without a doubt the most talked about Android smartphone this year, aside from the Nexus 5. From the get go, Samsung had a top selling device on its hands.
Sales of Samsung's Galaxy S4 have helped Samsung this year, but it is still unclear how they compare to sales of Apple's handsets. One thing is for sure, however, and that is that Sammy is gaining ground.
News of the Galaxy S4 milestone comes just as Galaxy S5 rumors are really starting to heat up in the mobile scene. It also comes just a few weeks after the company announced the Samsung Galaxy Round.
Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S4? What do you think of the smartphone? Was it worth the buy?
