1. Cleaning your Laptop from the inside

should the first thing to do, A Laptop has a fan build inside to keep the CPU cool, but using it from a very long time can make all kinds of dust particle reside new the fan which blocks the air. Try cleaning it but only if you know how to open and close your laptop.
2. Let the Air pass from the Laptop

When you use your Laptop on bed or any other surface when you can block the fan from emitting heating with air which will result in your laptop being heat up up quickly. Try using it on Table or any plan surface, also, if possible, try purring something below your laptop so that you give a reasonable amount of space for the air to pass.
3. Passing Air with High Pressure

Try passing air from the outside so that some dust can be removed from the fan which is causing the blockage, you will not have to open your laptop but again this trick may or may not work depending on the kind of dirt on the fan.
4. Use USB powered Laptop cooling pads

This one helps allot, the main reason for Laptop Heat up is not getting proper air to the CPU. This would be a best thing to do if you can use addition fans that will help the CPU cool down.
5. Keep it in front of a fan for a While

If you are too lazy or broke to buy a cooling pad, where is a quick solution, which you will have to repeat every now and then and it worked for me a lot of time. Whenever you will that your PC is too heated up, bring to near a Table PC and turn it around keeping the back of your laptop facing the fan. Your Laptop will cool down in 5 minutes and you will get another hour to work on your PC.
6. Use Laptop in Cold room temperature.

Room temperature also affects the Laptop Heating, try using at places where the temperature is little low and you can bear sitting there. Its computer mechanism that whenever a Computer runs, it will produce heat from the CPU. Try giving it a suitable room temperature.
