Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook with 240GB SSD Now Available
Acer has just announced that its Aspire S3 Ultrabook is now available with a more powerful Intel Core i7 processor and 240GB SSD.
The Aspire S3 features a 13.3-inch display (1366x768 resolution), a 0.51-inch thin profile, weighs 2.98 lbs, and its chassis is made out of magnesium alloy. This is the first Ultrabook available with such a large SSD (typical Ultrabooks come with 128GB).
This version of the Acer Aspire S3 is available now for $1,299. Hopefully the SSD is considerably faster than the model in the Toshiba Portege Z835 Ultrabook we just reviewed; even the ASUS UX31 Zenbook didn't include a very fast SSD.
The Core i7 is the fastest processor available in an Ultrabook. Naturally it adds more than a few dollars to the end price of the notebook; coupled with the extra-large 240GB SSD, it might explain why the Aspire S3 is $500 more than the Toshiba Portege Z835. Other versions of the Acer Aspire S3 are available starting at $899.99.
